AKERN\u00ae announces the launch of the new BIA101BIVA PRO\u00ae<\/a> vector bioimpedance analyzer.<\/p>\n

AKERN\u00ae has been a leading company in the clinical field of bioimpedance for 40 years and has always stood out for its systems capable of meeting the highest standards of precision and accuracy.<\/p>\n

The sensors of the BIA 101 line have been supporting researchers and body composition professionals all over the world for over 30 years, translating the achievements of science into innovative solutions.<\/p>\n

BIA101BIVA PRO\u00ae<\/strong> was born from an ambitious project.<\/p>\n

With the new analyzer, Akern\u00ae not only wanted to achieve optimal performance in terms of precision and accuracy but also improved the reliability of the measurement by making available all the advantages of operational research conducted in recent years.<\/p>\n

The evolution from a geometric model to an anatomical model<\/strong><\/p>\n

From segmental BIA to regional BIA<\/h3>\n

Thanks to a multi-year collaboration with the University of Lisbon – Facultade de Motricidade Umana and its group of experts in Sport Science, Akern\u00ae has validated a new bioimpedance model capable of tracking injuries, recovery and dynamic changes of individual muscle groups.<\/p>\n

In 1994 Leslie Organ introduced the segmental measurement model. A significant step forward for the bioimpedance analysis which made it possible to attribute impedance values \u200b\u200bdepending on the conductive volume to each body segment.<\/p>\n

Akern\u00ae was the first manufacturer to adopt the segmental model in its systems (BIA 101 SPORT EDITION) so much so that it won the FIBO Innovation Award (The European Award of the Fitness and Wellness Industry) in 2008.<\/p>\n

Although many manufacturers still continue to use the segmental BIA model, the sensitivity of this approach in detecting structural and \/ or functional asymmetries and in tracking dynamic changes in body composition (such as following training and de-training phases in sports subjects ) has never been validated.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the limitations of this approach are now well known. Segmental analysis does not allow to accurately analyze the anatomical areas crossed by the current, neglecting the impedance contribution of the joint regions which, being responsible for controlling movement, are particularly interesting in the clinical rehabilitation field.<\/p>\n

The new Regional Bia model developed by AKERN\u00ae in collaboration with the FMH research center in Lisbon has solved many critical issues of the previous approach allowing to provide more precise estimates and improving the sensitivity to variations in the individual anatomical regions subjected to treatment.<\/p>\n

A new algorithm for real-time evaluation of the bioelectrical signal<\/h3>\n

SIGNAL QUALITY ASSISTANT (SQA) TECHNOLOGY<\/h4>\n

BIA101BIVA PRO \u00ae is the first analyzer capable of providing an index on the quality of the bioelectrical data.<\/p>\n

SIGNAL QUALITY ASSISTANT is based on an innovative algorithm for the quality control of Resistance and Reactance data.
